drumcode limited was created as an offshoot of drumcode for special tracks focusing on exceptional music. keeping tracks on a vinyl-only format gives the music a special collectors quality and a sound synonymous with audiophiles. past releases come from adam beyer, alan fitzpatrick, tom demac & glimpse, ben sims, steve rachmad, 2000 and one and marco faraone.

tippa lee’s new album cultural ambassador will be released on stones throw, may 20, 2016. tippa lee was born and raised in kingston, jamaica. he started performing on his fathers sound system as a child, standing up on a beer bottle box to reach the mic. he made his first recordings at king tubby‘s studio at the age of 12. eventually he teamed up with rappa robert and as a duo had a number of hits including “no trouble we”, an anthemic statement against police harassment, which was a number one jamaican hit in 1988 and is still played often on jamaican radio. in more recent years he has been based in the us, performing live and releasing his own underground cds. produced by tom chasteen, dj and promoted at la’s long running dub club.

all of the tracks in this ep were created by the roland rhythm composer tr-707. the recordings were captured live using a combination of analog and digital equipment. all manipulations and pattern changes were generated by hand.

news of the record first broke back in december, when omar-s, real name alex omar smith, contributed a three-hour mix for ra’s 500th podcast. the lp will be smith’s fifth full-length release, and arrives three years after his most recent album, 2013’s thank you for letting me be myself. like almost all of the detroit artist’s catalogue so far, the best lands on smith’s own fxhe records. it comprises 11 tracks, featuring collaborations with fellow motor city acts such as norm talley, ob ignitt and kyle hall.

ygrok brings a long-awaited fourth release to its catalog. rene&#769,, audiard’s “sakhalin” takes things a step away from traditional club music.
the a side, “vox out” opens with the skeleton of a rhythm. scattered tom drums and barely detectable whirs, fading and reeling in the background. when the distorted voices begin their story behind a hissing, grinding off-shaker, you know this will not be your traditional club track. a story develops. the barest hint of a shuffling beat, a subtle reminder of soren’s previous work, pins down the journey into the darkest psychic territory. the title track sakhalin steps even further into darkness. crackling electrics and disjointed atmospheres change at a glacial pace over a submerged hydraulic beat. sakhalin audiard experimental territory.

religio is glad to present the first va series of the label rigorosely on vinyl only. a side is from lillo and fulvio ruffert & gregorio serasin, both minimal and deep tunes, lillo s track is more big deep bass and bouncy instead the creature from fulvio and his mate is focused on the mesmering soundscapes and deep dub melodies.. b side is from fnr and kitkalt the fnr tune is very organic and sexy and from his kind of producing very analog stuff taste, kitkalt delivers a more techy track, dark and shiny at the same time, a tune for smashing the dance floor..

the crate-digging credentials of psychemagik’s danny mclewin are well established. even so, he’s excelled himself with the first release on spacetalk, a joint venture with leng records’ simon purnell and paul murphy.
the trio have successfully worked together a lot over the last five years, with purnell and murphy releasing a string of superb collections, compiled by mclewin and psychemagik partner tom coveney. all three men were keen to continue this partnership, and have founded spacetalk to re-release long forgotten, little-known or overlooked music, as well as previously unheard archive material from some of the artists involved.
the label’s first release is as obscure as they come. morrison kincannon’s to see one eagle fly is stupidly rare, having initially been released by its’ creators as a private press record during the early 1970s.

paris-based label sounds benefit adds the second release to his catalogue, where label owner s tom joyce teams up with leaves, iron curtis, stojche and ben cohen, to offer what could be the soundtrack of a walk into the grey landscapes of the new iram, with reference to the mysterious city of a thousand pillars.

basement galaxy is a technological concept that will surge from mind expansive soundtracks to no holds barred dj lineups bursting with technotensity. with ardent focus on the underground to the masters of the overground, without constraint, deserving voices shall be heard. the first installation of the basement galaxy soundtrack series features house/techno pro baller, jerome sydenham. here, sydenham give us a glimpse into his techno remix savoir faire. this 8-track techno boner features tracks from craig, planetary assault systems, truncate, radio slave, raiz, kyle geiger and bobby dowell, tom laws and xhin. the remixes of raiz - keep secrets and planetary assault systems - gt were collaborations with the legendary function (sandwell district)

mister ho and heap are ambassadors of the river danube. this is their first offering for the esp institute. on side a, collision resistance throws us into the bowels of an underground sex lair with an adrenaline-laden heartbeat for a kick drum, a rough dose of fisting illustrated by the combination of bassline with low-tom and an unrelenting snare that whips us raw into submission. somewhere in between the waves of punishment we can start to audibly pick up tortured moans of endurance and pleasure, but maybe its time we pull our minds from the gutter, wipe the sweat from our brow and flip the record for a reward. with side b’s veils of the beloved, mister ho & heap deliver us via speedboat to the white isle, coasting along to bouncy staccato bass notes and machine bleeps as a euphoric chord progression puts us in an 808 state of mind. the percussion arrangement and phasing string flourishes are introduced through a filter, opening slowly as if coming up for air from a beautiful blue abyss. these two songs are neither too salty nor too sweat

next up on moss co. is a 3 tracker from long-time moscow records artists dan farserelli, remixed by the supremely talented tom ellis. the record opens with lemons and limes, a catchy roller that bumps and grinds its way into the soul, each revolution of the bassline giving the body a sense of fulfilment, while jazzy musical elements entertain the mind. on the flip that time is a classic piece of micro house perfect for the early hours. a sparse, but groovy bassline is complemented by catchy hooks, percussion and a creative arrangement. the tom ellis remix on the b2 completes the record with a particularly trippy, but incredibly catchy, afterhours interpretation.

hi and saberhägen are two friends from glasgow who make some incredible music. here we have three songs in their very unique styles - a crazy, out of step, tribal acid house song, one paranoid disco stormer, and a walkabout through some trippi foliage to bring it home

benedikt frey crafts a musical aesthetic that (much like the esp institute) might only be seen in its true form from a birds-eye view—a whole greater than the sum of its parts. his playful indifference to genre specifics and pre-prescribed instrumentation or production techniques makes for a loose and refreshing collection of work, and this debut for the esp institute, the lobbyist, serves up an incongruous three tracks so bewildering and narcotic we’re already impatiently fiending for more. on side a, the title track is no less than a medieval assault. led by a stomping war drum and a blasting bass synth that might literally have caught the studio on fire, an erratic array of clanking percussion, hi-hats and cymbals push us into a sinister corner where his whispering chant grants us the smallest bit of humanity before continuing with the beating. on side b, cupids delight (ft tcb) and gravel both explore variations on beauty—the former in a blur of ghost-like vocals smeared in harmony across a low-slung machine drums, and the latter evoking a tropical affair gone psychedelic, complete with drawn-out disorienting marimba and ritual clave/tom arrangements. welcome home brother benedikt, what took you so long?

a humid 3 tracks scorcher from sirius type and mcdoo. “odd food”, originally released by dave sector through sector 1212, is fossilized next to “wow”. on the flipside, sirius type delivers a plaster shaking ko with “thankyousphere”. sirus type is a collaboration between eric douglas porter (afrikan sciences) and tom mcconnell.

tom middleton and mark pritchards 76:14 is one of the 90s most acclaimed electronic albums, while a cast of aliases (reload, jedi knights and more) also orbited the project. their last record came out in 1997, and although there was a live reunion in 2010, the new material we were promised is yet to emerge. pritchards nowhere to be seen on this remix of duskys skin deep (its middleton flying solo), but its still an occasion. according to dusky, we knew we wanted someone special and we knew we wanted someone who would get to the heart of the melodies and textures in the breakdown. tom has totally delivered, creating something that draws on the heritage of the ambient sound, but also feels current and modern.

theyre young and tough, and especially wonderful too, easily one of the most compelling harmony soul groups to ever hail from the windy city! the sets a chicago soul gem from the early 70s, recorded with a laidback, slightly tripped-out vibe thats different than the tighter styles of other groups from the same scene, definitely righteous at points, with some of the superbad modes you might hear from an east coast lineup like the delfonics or soul generation, especially when they were trying to get a bit more conscious in their message. arrangements are great – handled by tom tom washington, eugene record, and cliff davis, very much at the best brunswick mode, but again with a deeper sort of vibe too. the title cuts a monster, and a very fitting follow-up to their earlier sly, slick, & wicked track – and the album features 2 versions (vocal and instrumental) of a cut called this is the lost generation, a very righteous soul groove with a heavy production tip.

were so excited to be the guys that get to deliver you this guys debut release. luca murgia has a sound all his own he really like tom toms, he likes spacey flourishes, and overall he likes to deliver tracks with mobile electroy grooves married to the stability of house. the thing that really makes him special to us is the naturalness of feeling he achieves in his productions he has a neatness to his grooves everything lines up so the body can move freely and the dancer be in a state of flow. all four tracks on this ep have real singularity of intent in their sounds and rhythms but vary dramatically in intensity.
